Introduction
MilkDrop is a music visualizer - a 'plug-in' to the Winamp music player. As you listen your music in Winamp, MilkDrop takes you flying through the actual soundwaves you're hearing, and uses beat detection to trigger myriad psychedelic effects, creating a rich visual journey through sound. Winamp Download is a free multimedia player made by Nullsoft. It supports numerous audio and video formats. It also plays streamed video and audio content, both live and recorded, authored worldwide.
This is a MAD input plug-in forWinamp 2. It replaces the MPEG audiodecoder functionality that comes with Winamp to provide superior sound for MP3and other MPEG audio files. It supports output resolutions from 8 to 32bits.
Please note: There is not yet available a plug-in forWinamp 3.
Hear the Difference
The following sound samples demonstrate the audible difference between MADand most other decoders. These samples were created at an 8-bit resolution sothat the difference is readily apparent; naturally the quality improves withmore resolution, but the difference remains.

How it Works
High-quality output begins with a highly accurate decoder. MAD fullysatisfies the ISO/IEC 11172-4 computational accuracy requirements forcompliance. However, accuracy alone is notenough.
Internally, MAD represents the decoded audio signal with high precision.Combined with a form of dither, this allows output samples to be calculatedwith less objectionable quantization noise and more audible dynamic range thanmost decoders produce today. The result is unusually high-quality output thatis a more faithful reconstruction of the signal encoded in MPEG audio than youmay have realized possible.
Compatibility
You can use this plug-in with any sound card using either 16- or 8-bitoutput resolutions. Output is dithered so that you will perceive an increaseddynamic range even at these low resolutions.
If your sound card supports higher resolution output, you can choose tohave MAD produce output directly in 24- or 32-bit formats.
High-resolution output also depends on support from your Winamp outputplug-in. At this time, 24-bit output is reported to work with Nullsoft'swaveOut plug-in if the 'Max blocksize' and 'Min blocksize' configurationparameters are set to 16kB and 4kB respectively.
24-bit output is not reported to work with the DirectSound plug-in.
It is not yet known if any combination of output plug-ins and sound cardswill support 32-bit output. If you are able to try this, please report theoutcome. Note that the sound quality from 32-bit output is identical to thatof 24-bit output; the samples are simply padded to a 32-bit word length forcompatibility with hardware that requires this.
Status
A beta version of the plug-in is available fordownload. Source for the plug-in is available in theregular source code release of MAD.
Preliminary streaming support is implemented, but you may wish to leave thedefault decoder installed for more complete handling of play from URLs untilfull streaming support is available.

WINAMP FOR WINDOWS
In January 2014, Radionomy (the company provides everyone from artist and celebrities to professional broadcasters and music lovers with the tools and infrastructure to create, broadcast, promote and monetize their own online radio stations completely free of charge) announced that it has acquired Winamp and SHOUTcast. This acquisition allowed them to reach a much larger audience and offer new experiences for users. Unfortunately, in practice it also meant the end of active development of the Winamp player on all supported platforms.
Winamp 5.6.6.3516
The last stable version of Winamp (by Nullsoft/AOL) was released on December 12, 2013 and was marked as 5.6.6.3516. This is the best and most refined version that has been created. Winamp's official distribution includes my language pack, which has the status of an official Polish language pack.
It should be noted that as a result of the change of Winamp ownership, some components have stopped working and some have been malfunctioning. These problems have been solved by issuing patched installers, which you can download below.
So you can download official (patched) Winamp Full and Lite (lightweight mp3 / CD player) installers in English (en-US) and the multilingual Winamp Full installer (with a built-in Polish language pack). You can also download the official (unpatched) Winamp Full and Lite installers in Polish version (pl-PL). These installers are unfortunately not patched and therefore it is also recommended to download and install the security patches of the gen_jumpex and in_mp3 plugins.
POLISH LANGUAGE PACK FOR WINAMP 5.6.6.3516
Polish language pack is the official Polish translation of Winamp, which I have prepared in consultation with Nullsoft, Inc. (AOL). Winamp language pack is the translation of the entire Winamp interface, which includes the translation of all plugins and skins distributed with Winamp. This language pack is an extended version of the official Polish language pack, which also contains a translation of other plugins that extend Winamp's functionality, which I found to be remarkable. It also includes Polish version of Winamp Classic Skin and a special plug-in that provides access to unofficial Winamp help web page in Polish language.

WACUP (WinAmp Community Update Project)
WACUP (WinAmp Community Update Project) is an independent project with the aim to provide new features and bug fixes for the mighty Winamp player from those who care about keeping Winamp alive and whippin' with the goal to eventually become its own highly Winamp compatible media player.
WACUP consists of new plug-ins to add additional features to the last AOL provided Winamp release (5.666 Build 3516) as well as making use of the benefits of Winamp being heavily based on a plug-in system to allow replacements to be created which provide better implementations over the plug-ins natively included with Winamp. By including and updating other 3rd party skins and plug-ins for Winamp, WACUP should be able to provide something for most users who care about Winamp and want to keep using it for the years to come.
WACUP project is being actively developed. However, it is still beta software. If you want, you can help create and develop WACUP by becoming a beta tester. You can also support the project financially or in any other way (tests, promotion, etc.).

Winamp 5.8.0.3660 (Beta)

The latest public version of Winamp was released on October 19, 2018. This is the development version (BETA)! The goal is to create a completely free edition, which requires removal or replacement of the licensed code. It is recommended to use the 'custom' install option instead of 'standard'. Custom install lets you choose components, like before, whereas standard defaults to 'all' on clean installs, or 'previous' on upgrades.
Notes: Some features are works-in-progress, e.g. new in_mod and out_wasapi plugins. Sorry, no CD burning, autotag or cddb features yet. No multinational version with lang packs yet either (however you can still use langpacks).
